Taken about a week ago this is a view looking across the Bristol channel from Severn Beach. Anyone who's been there will know that "beach" is a bit of a misnomer!
But my kids love places like that far more than "proper" beaches I'm pleased to say. Big girl had a lovely time looking for "old lady sticks" while small girl searched for "Morris dancing sticks" and I collected driftwood to make picture frames. As the old saying goes, The Best Things in Life are Free and even the crappiest of places can yield treasure!

A great scene and better than a *proper* beach anyday.
What a beautiful shot!
I loved reading your profile in the sidebar. :)
My post is here: Carletta’s Captures.
Lovely shot, Sam.
It's almost inviting us to follow the light nto the water.
Beautiful shot. I can imagine standing there and just enjoying the scene until it's gone.
Yes the best things in life are free!!
Beautiful photo.
What a lovely pic Sam! It just tugged at my heart strings.
Lovely photo - I love the color!
Ok, I have to ask though, what's a Morris dancing stick?
Would love to see some of your driftwood frames too!
I enjoyed your post..I agree too. Nice pic-
Gorgeous! Could have posted it on SkyWatch also - with that wonderful sunset reflected in the water!
Thanks for all the comments!
Carletta - my profile is a bit outdated now, but that's how it all started. I'm still very much in demand for tech support!
Tricia - a morris dancing stick is basically a branch and is used like a sword. Have a look at this video

Driftwood does make splendid crafty-type material. Any shells on that beach?

Lovely shot. Just wandered over from your mum's blog!
Thanks for the visit Sam. Yes, fantastic research into the dialect of Ann Hathaway. Agreed!
Anne certainly Hathaway with words didn't she?
Just up the road from here, indeed not a beach at all, but your photo makes it look quite exotic!
